OFF-SEASON GROWTH PLAN
With the start of a new season, we set new objectives. In the realm of athletics, our aim is to enhance our athletic abilities. How can we effectively break down our development requirements to transform this significant overarching goal into smaller, attainable ones? By creating SMART goals, we can precisely identify the areas we need to improve on. SMART goals prompt us to contemplate what we truly want to achieve.

Measurable goals allow us to track our progress and adjust our approach if necessary. We can measure our progress towards our goal by testing our and recording our results in athletic and strength exercises. By breaking down our goal into manageable steps, we can create a plan of action that includes specific drills, exercises, sets, and reps to achieve our desired outcome.
Achievable goals are realistic and within our capabilities. We need to consider our current fitness level, available resources, and time constraints when setting our goals. For example, if we have never lifted weights before, setting a goal to bench press twice our body weight within a month may not be achievable. Instead, we can set a more realistic goal to increase our bench press weight by 5 pounds within the same time frame.
Relevant goals align with our desired accomplishments and contribute to our overall objective. For example, if our overarching goal is to improve our performance in a specific sport, our SMART goals should focus on the skills and abilities required for that sport.
Time-bound goals have a deadline for achievement, which helps us stay focused and motivated. We need to set a realistic timeline for achieving our goals and regularly track our progress towards them. For example, we can set a deadline of three months to achieve our strength goal and monitor our progress.
